Current Outages

At the moment, quite a few of our resolvers are not fully functional. I'm in touch with the respective providers to get this sorted.

  • Newcastle - They have issues with their networking equipment. IPv4 is fully functional as part of a temporary workaround. IPv6 will be restored as soon as their new equipment is in place. No ETA.
  • Timișoara - IPv6 is not functional at the moment. I've opened a ticket with the provider but don't have any details yet.
  • Allentown - I lost access to the server three days ago and am unable to check what's going on. The provider has disable their control panel as a temporary security measure. No ETA.
  • Ho-Chi-Minh City - Provider says that their datacenter blocks UDP traffic after a DDoS attack. I am in touch with them but don't have any information when this will be restored.
  • Ebène - IPv6 connectivity has been interrupted today. I've opened a ticket with the provider but don't have any information yet.

I'm sorry for the downtimes, but I hope you're able to find a working resolver nearby. We're doing basic monitoring, so if you see a red blinking light on our resolvers page, we've already been notified about an issue.

If you notice anything beyond that, please reach out via email!

New provider in Adelaide

Our current provider in Adelaide has notified us that they will discontinue their hosting services as of February 1st. Therefore, we have switched to a different provider.

Our resolver in Adelaide is now hosted by BinaryLane, and the resolver lists have been updated with the new IP addresses.

Resolver replacement in Poland and IP change in Vietnam

The resolver waw02 (Warsaw, Poland) will be decommissioned tomorrow. Please switch to waw01 instead. I apologize for the short notice.

Also, the IP addresses of sgn01 (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) has changed.

The resolver lists have been updated accordingly!

New resolvers: Vientiane and Bremen

We have added two new resolvers today: Bremen, Germany and Vientiane, Laos

In addition, we have made some changes that you hopefully have not noticed:

  • Updated certificates on all resolvers
  • Updated encrypted-dns-server to v0.9.18 on all resolvers
  • Increased connection limits to avoid issues on busy resolvers

As always, please shoot us an email if you notice any issues!

Some IP changes

I have some updates regarding (planned and unplanned) IP address changes:

  • The IPv6 address for lon01 (London) has changed. This change comes as the provider lost access to their leased IPv6 network and had to assign new addresses to their services. Oops!

  • The IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for lax01 (Los Angeles) have also changed due to a migration to a new data center.

Additionally, I am preparing to implement Anycast in January, which involves reorganizing parts of the resolver infrastructure. This includes new IP addresses for waw02 (Warsaw), sto02 (Stockholm), and bcn01 (Barcelona).

The resolver lists have been updated accordingly.
